The two biggest hitters in the global truck manufacturing corporate world are Daimler Trucks’ chairman Martin Daum and Volvo president and chief executive Martin Lundstedt.

The companies they lead are the biggest in trucking worldwide, so a joint venture suggests a dominant force in transport.

Last month, they announced a JV to “develop, produce and commercialise fuel cell systems for heavy-duty vehicle applications and other use cases”.

The intention is to package all the research, development testing and likely production of fuel cell technology for both truck manufacturers into one entity.
